History of Salt Therapy

Since the days of Egypt’s Queen Cleopatra, salt therapies have been known to have therapeutic benefits. Whether dipping themselves in the Dead Sea or taking treks into Eastern European salt caves, sufferers of many different respiratory and skin ailments have benefited from the restorative powers of salts.

In 1843, a Polish physician first wrote about the benefit of salt mines. He noted that salt miners had much lower rates of lung disease compared to the rest of the population. He attributed the cause of the salt miners’ good health to the salt cave air that was saturated with saline dust. Soon halotherapy became a common drug-free treatment for many chronic lung and skin conditions.

For more than 20 years, specifically-designed halochambers have used dry sodium chloride aerosol, to treat upper and lower respiratory and skin conditions. This practice has become known as salt therapy.

How Salt Therapy Works

As the pharmaceutical salt is inhaled, it travels through the sinuses and respiratory tract absorbing moisture, cleansing, clearing mucus and killing bacteria. Salt Therapy is 100% natural, drug-free, and a non-invasive way to help improve lung and skin conditions.

During your salt therapy treatment at The Tranquil Room, you’ll have a moment to close your eyes, and lightly breath micro grinds of pharmaceutical salt.  Our state-of-the-art halogenerator disperses the fine powder salt, creating a bacteria and allergen-free environment. The Tranquil Room halogenerator senses the room to guarantee that the level of dry salt makes it easy to breath and is able to penetrate deep into your lungs & sinuses, while the non-inhaled micro-particles invisibly rest on your skin.

The Tranquil Room halotherapy aerosol helps clean airways and lungs, providing anti-inflammatory benefits facilitating breathing ease and skin revitalization.
